End of September

Yes, I know it's already October, but life got in the way of making this post happen this week, so here we are now :)

I love this song and it pretty much sums up my month of September.

Here are some photos from my September :)

Quick Update!

Remember that one time that I blogged??

Yeah, me neither.

Life is crazy and my mind is spinning with drug facts and mechanisms of action, indications, contraindications, and side effects.

So, I thought I should take 30 seconds and provide you with a quick update!

Nursing School controls my life, but that was to be expected.
LDSSA is as great as ever!
I didn't do UFIT this semester and it makes me sad that I can't see cute Hudson every week.
Homecoming Week went great and I love SAB!
*UBook Tradition Post to come soon!*
I got to see Andy Grammar and Karmin at Redfest, which was an absolute blast!

The Holy War has been suspended for 2 years after a GLORIOUS Utah win! The Mighty Utes will again rival the TDS (team down south) in 2016.

OH, and this kid comes home tomorrow. I'm kinda excited ;)

Well, that's all for now folks!
Hopefully after my pharmacology test destroys me, I'll be able to find some time to write a few more posts :)

I Know.

This last week I had the opportunity to go to Young Women's Girls Camp with my ward. I have the calling of "Assistant Camp Director", which is part of the reason why I am still in my home ward and not going to a Young Single Adult ward, cause I refuse to grow up and move on from going to Girls Camp ;)

The theme for this year's camp was "RODEO", with it being an acronym for "Respecting Ourselves, Demanding Excellence, and Obeying the Lord". Each day was assigned a topic within that saying and the Young Women leaders and the YCL's would each give devotionals throughout the day having to do with the topic for the day.

I am so grateful that I was able to go up to camp and to hear those devotionals. It allowed me to reflect on my life, on what I am doing, on if I am progressing or just staying stagnant. And I learned a lot, not only directly from what was said in the devotionals, but also from the Spirit that spoke to me in those moments of reflection.

This post is really hard for me to write, but I know that I just have to get everything out in the open, to let others know of not only my beliefs, but also of my struggles and trials that have come.

As many of you know, I am not serving a full-time mission for the LDS church at this time. (read more about that in this post.) When that decision was made and the reality that my plans had changed set in, I struggled. I didn't know what to believe anymore. At that point, I was just going through the motions. I went to church, went to institute, read my scriptures, said not the most meaningful prayers, and fulfilled my responsibilities and callings. I wanted to believe, but because of the hustle and bustle of life, I didn't take the time to truly re-find out for myself.

Then, I was presented with a choice. A choice between having a life with someone who treated me like a princess and loved me and could talk anatomy with me and was standing in front of me with open arms, or choosing the Lord and His plan for me. So, I had to find out for myself if I truly believed.

It was hard. And I spent many nights crying and I still do. But now I not only believe.

I Know.

I know that the Lord has a plan for me. I know that there is a worthy priesthood holder that will someday be my husband. I know that His plan is worth waiting for. I know that times are and will be hard, that there will be times that I won't want to wait anymore.
But I also know that my Heavenly Father knows me. He knows me personally! And He knows what is best for me and what will help me to grow and achieve greatness in my life! He knows of the struggles that I go through each day, when I feel that I am alone.

But I'm not alone.

My Savior, Jesus Christ, knows everything that I go through, every feeling of inadequacy and doubt. And He is right next to me, holding me up. He is my best friend, a constant companion, and a shoulder to cry on. I am so grateful that I have this knowledge that I am never really alone! The amount of peace that this simple truth brings to me is indescribable!

I am so grateful for the trials and heartache that I have had to go through. They have taught me so much about myself and about my Savior. I love this gospel! I am so grateful that I have been able to be raised in a family where the doctrines and principles of it have been taught! I am so grateful for the priesthood leaders in my life, for the example that they have been to me, for showing me the kind of man that I want to marry someday!

I love my Savior and my Heavenly Father with all my heart. I testify of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I say these things in the sacred name of my Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

I Blogged, WHAATT??

Remember that one time I blogged? Yeah, me neither.

It's been a while. Lots has happened. Some good. Some not so good. Some pretty fantastic.

So, here is an update on me since March :)

School has basically been my life. So not much to report there.

I got a new calling! I am the Ward Bulletin Editor! That means I make the paper program each week for Sacrament Meeting. So if anyone has any tips or things that have been in your Sacrament Meeting paper programs that you loved, please comment below and let me know! Or email me at beccafoth@yahoo.com.

I made it through the semester without Advanced Anatomy destroying my GPA! I ended up actually doing fairly well and getting an A- in the class! Only 1 person got an A so I am feeling pretty great about my A- :)

"Rocked the U" for Cancer Research! I danced for Lizzie Hammer! :)

I found out that I got into Nursing School at the U! I am so so excited! I start my program in the Fall and it is a 2 year program, so by the time my brother gets home from his mission, I will be a nurse! :)

Road Go-Karts at Miller Motor Sports Park and had a blast!

Hiked up Ensign Peak with the silly parents and crazy brother :)
Yes, my mom is making a duck face.

Went to "The Really Big Cooking Show" at Thanksgiving Point with my mom and now want to be domestic and make food and treats all the time :)

Was chosen as a new member of the University of Utah's Student Alumni Board! This group is so great and I'm so excited to be able to be a part of it next year!

Went Cosmic Bowling with the brother (and Muffin) for his birthday! Then stopped for Smile Fries from Sconecutter! We were 5 year old hooligans with a driver's license and our mom's credit card ;)

Had Easter Saturday up at the Cabin with the HamFam, and Easter Sunday at home with Bro!

Finished up the semester and school year with my awesome Spirit of Place LDSSA Committee at our traditional breakfast at Village Inn for the last meeting :) I love these kids and am going to miss those who won't be back next year!

Fell for a guy and was twitterpatted for a while. Then experienced heartache because of the situation. This guy is an amazing guy and reminded me what it felt like to love and be loved, to care and be cared for, and I am so grateful for that. I have no bad feelings towards him in anyway and I wish him the very best in life and in love. Thank you T for giving me a great month and helping me get through many days and nights of stress and worry with school and grades. It meant the world to me :)

Now, it is Summer time! I am excited for what is to come in my life and to embrace whatever comes my way :)

Superbowl Surmises

Watching the Superbowl
Eating great food
Lets get this Niners
A win would be good!

I would like to recognize that I just thought that up in a period of about 30 seconds.
It is the 4th Quarter with 4:28 left in the game and the 49ers are down by 2. I gotta have faith that they can pull it out!

Anyways, vegging on the couch, eating my weight in bread and spinach artichoke dip, and feeling guilty that I haven't been working on my homework at all, I decided that to not feel so guilty that right now would be a good time to think and blog.

This weekend has been a pretty interesting one. Friday day I got to watch my High School Drill Team, the Copper Hills Azurettes, take state for the first time! Then, I got to go over to my great friend Whitney's house and watch a movie with some great friends and some fairly attractive men :) Eye Candy is always great right??

Then, Saturday was interesting. I had my LDSSA retreat up at Camp Tracy. We had dinner (Cafe Rio, awesome as always), then had some leadership training, then went sledding. It was a pretty fun night, but I just felt out of the loop with everyone. Maybe it was cause the sledding was kind of terrifying and the hill was way longer than I expected.

Then on the way back to the institute, there was a conversation in the car I was in that I had to hold my tongue multiple times. Turns out, the other girl in the car had the same thoughts as I did. To sum it up, one of the guys in the car was talking about how he was glad that girls could go on a mission sooner so that he wouldn't have to wait as long to marry a returned sister missionary that was younger than him, and that he only wants to marry a returned missionary because they "are better" than women who don't go on a mission (Those weren't his exact words, but that was what I took from what he said). The other girl in the car is in the same boat as I am. We want to go and have always thought about going, but we are meant to stay here for right now.

Alright, now to what I really wanted to post about. Is that really what young single adult men are thinking? That if a girl isn't going on a mission that something is wrong with her? I don't know if any guys read my blog but I am really wondering this. Now, I am sure that not all guys think this, but is it pretty common nowadays?

Anyways, the Niners just lost. Boo. But it's ok, I'm not super upset about it.

Have a Super Sparkly Day!

So, I love that commercial. It cracks me up every time. If you haven't seen it and don't know what I'm talking about, watch it here. Seriously, just finding that video to link to and I was giggling :)

Do you ever have those days where they are just great all the way through, no matter what?
No matter what is thrown at you or is put in your path, nothing can get you down?

Well, today my friends, is one of those days :)

It started with waking up from a wonderful dream and I was already smiling.
Then, after family scripture study, I decided that sleeping sounded better than showering.
So I slept for a bit longer.
As I got up, I decided that I didn't care if I didn't look super great or professional.
I was all about comfy today.
I put my hair on top of my head and a sparkly, sequin headband on.

I wore sweats instead of jeans.
I then went to the trax station and road trax to school with a good friend (who is also good looking!).
I got to class early and could just chill for a bit.
The class content included a lot that I had already learned from my CNA course.
So I didn't have to access a lot of brain power.
Then Institute class was super great and spiritual, as always.
Especially cause I have it with Whit!
There were free cookies and milk and chips and salsa at the institute!
The above statement then made Whit and I super hyper.
Also Whit's lack of sleep contributed ;)
We hung out at the 'tute with a guy from our class and laughed hysterically.
I go out to ride trax home and the same good looking friend is at the station!
At home, I submitted my Nursing School Application! Eeek!
Now, John Schmidt and Steven Sharp Nelson (aka Piano Guys) is playing in the background.

Great day?? Yes :)

So, I wish you all to have a Super Sparkly Day! I know mine is :)

Plans Change

I've been wanting to write this post for a while now, but never really knew everything I wanted to say and how to say it. But I know that I just need to get it out there for everyone to know what is going on with me.

Plans Change. And sometimes it sucks. Right now it sucks. But I've come to accept it.

Ever since I can remember, I've been planning on going on a mission. The plan has always been to go to school until I was 21 and then take a 18-month break to go abroad.
Then the announcement came that girls could go on missions now starting at 19.
When I was 19, I was full-on angry that I had to stay here while all of my guy friends got to leave on missions. I didn't feel it was fair that they got to go and I had to wait, but I accepted it then.
Then a few months ago, before the announcement, I met with my bishop to talk about getting mission papers. I was so sure of myself, I thought, making the appointment and walking into his office.
Then, I broke down. I wasn't sure of what I was really supposed to do with my life right now. My bishop then gave me an assignment to go home, talk to my parents, weigh the pros and cons of a mission, and to make a decision. Then, I would take that decision to the Lord.
So, I did just that. And I came to a decision. One I wasn't very happy about, but it felt right.

I'm not going on a mission.....right now.

I don't know exactly why this is the answer, especially because I'm not dating anyone right now, so the whole marriage thing isn't getting in the way.
I have talked to people who were also planning on a mission, but a man walked into there life and they went that path instead.
I think that is why this is so hard and confusing for me. I don't have the reason of marriage for not going, and all along that was the only thing that I thought could make my plans change.
If the announcement that girls can now leave at 19 had come when I was 19, I would have been gone in a heartbeat. I would have been one of those girls that called their bishop that day to get their papers going.
When the announcement came, I was devastated. Why didn't that happen just 2 years earlier?
But I know why, at least the why for me.

If I had gone at 19, I wouldn't have been an Anatomy TA.
If I had gone at 19, I wouldn't be involved with the Spirit of Place Committee at the SL Institute of Religion.
If I had gone at 19, I wouldn't have met my best friend.
If I had gone at 19, I wouldn't have the amazing friends I have now.
If I had gone at 19, I wouldn't have met my bloggy-friends.
If I had gone at 19, I wouldn't be applying to nursing school next month.
If I had gone at 19, I wouldn't be so close to my adorable cousin Lizzie Hammer.
If I had gone at 19, I wouldn't be the person I am today.

And for that, I am grateful I didn't go when I was 19.

To Infinity...And Beyond!

Remember that time I said that I had a Halloween post in mind that I was going to write and put up on here? Yeah, my school life has been pretty crazy since then with studying Embryology 24/7. But, I can finally breathe for about 2.4 seconds, until I have my CNA State Written Test on Monday and Skills Test on Wednesday.

But, while I have the time, I shall update the blog with my homemade Halloween costume and Halloween festivities!

It all started out with me coming home from school and needing a costume within the next 3 hours for UFit. I decided to look online for some easy homemade costume ideas and saw a picture on google of......*get ready for this*....BUZZ LIGHTYEAR! I was pretty dang excited about it!
My mom and I then figured out what we needed to pick up from Wally World.
Our Shopping List:
Black Duct Tape
White Duct Tape
Green Duct Tape
Purple Duct Tape
Red Duct Tape

The supplies we had at home:
Red, Blue, Green, and Purple Fabric Markers
White Long Sleeved Shirt
White Shorts
Long White Socks
An Old Belt
Pretty good size piece of cardboard

On the white shirt, I just drew the design on with fabric markers. I then put some of the green duct tape around the sleeves and black duct tape around the bottom of the shirt. On the white shorts, I put green duct tape around the bottom of each leg. On the belt, I covered one side of it with the green duct tape. On the socks, I put purple duct tape on the bottom of each foot and green tape around the top of each sock. I wrote "ANDY" on the bottom of my right foot and put the socks on over my shoes.
For the wings, my mom was the mastermind and just looked at a picture of Buzz's wings online and cut and covered with duct tape a piece of cardboard we had in our garage.

Put it all together and....TADA!

Going down the stairs and through hallways was a challenge...

After the great success of my costume at UFit, I decided to where it to the Institute Halloween Party!
As I was getting ready, my friend Whitney texted me to ask for a ride to the party and of course I said, "Sure!" Then about 20 minutes later I get a phone call from a number I don't recognize, but I answer it anyways. It turns out to be my friend Jared that recently got home from his mission and that I had only seen once since he got home. He had been talking to Whit and was also wanting to know if I could give him a ride. So, I went and picked up Whit first and she was dressed in a Mr. Incredible's Jersey! Pixar anyone? (I hadn't told her what I was dressing up as)
Then, we went to Jared's house to pick him up. We get to his house and Whit calls him to tell him that we are outside. He opens his door and walks outside dressed as WOODY! Um, Perfect much??
So, Jared and I matched and Whit was also Pixar, with no planning required.
We are just that awesome :)

Jared wanted to get pictures with random people :)

Missionaries?? YES!

 A Minion from Despicable Me!

The fierce Mr. Incredible smashing Syndrome!

Jared with Jessie from Team Rocket

Partners in Crime :)

This was after we had finished cleaning up and were waiting for Jake's dad to arrive to pick up all of the blow-up equipment. It was probably past midnight at this point. So we were all a bit loopy :)

Also, here are Dad's and my pumpkins that we carved!
This is Dad's face!

And, of course, my Ute Drum and Feather :)

And, oh it was so great! :)

The Drummers after 3rd Quarter :)

Ah, Utah Football....best :)

Utah Man!

Go Utes! (Rosie, Me, and Maddie)

Love this girl! (Me and Kara)
Usually after the first game, the Salt Lake LDS Institute Night Life Committee puts on a giant party, called 5th Quarter! Tons of people come, LDS Members and Not, to eat Hot Dogs and party the night away! So much fun :)

Blue Moon anyone? ;)

Meet my long lost sister, Christine!
We have both been asked many a times if we were related to the other, sisters or even twins.
So, we decided that we are sisters, and one of us just took a wrong turn on the way down from heaven :)

I know that my Utes didn't exactly impress this last week against USU, but, We are ready for BYU this week.
Bring. It. On.
