Remember this post 2 years ago?

All of my friends were just leaving on their missions.
Now, a new wave is starting again! They are coming home!
Last night, Tommy came home from Ukraine!

2 years has gone by a lot faster than I thought it would!
Within the next few months, most of my guy friends from high school will be home!

Welcome Home Tommy! Let the Utah/BYU smack talk begin! ;)

Pedicure, Parties, and Passing the Time

My Memorial Day Weekend was more eventful than I first anticipated it would be.

Friday afternoon we went up to the family cabin and spent some quality time with the HamFam :)
Taking crazy pics is the best way spend time in the car

My Family=The Greatest

That, my friends, is a Maple Bacon Shake! It is from High Mountain Drug Store in the tiny town of Kamas, Utah. All of their shakes are DELISH! Probably the best shakes I've ever had, and that's in comparison to La Beau's Shakes in Garden City, Bear Lake, Utah!

Up there, we have no cell service. So, as we got home on Saturday night and my dad plugged his phone in, he got a message that I had left my bathroom bag up there. Cause I'm a genius.
Then, my phone fell out of my pocket and into the toilet. Again, genius. So, into the rice bag it went!

Sunday we went to church and it was wonderful, like always. After church, my dad and I drove back up to the cabin to get my bathroom bag. We hung out there for a couple hours and took naps, then drove home in time for dinner. Mom, Dad, Michael, and I then watched Get Smart. That movie is so so funny! I recommend it to anyone :)

Monday, aka Memorial Day, I was the first one up, at like 8:30am. My mom actually slept in for once! Crazy! I got ready and then watched an episode of SMASH on Hulu (super sad that the series got cancelled). Once everyone else was up and ready, we went to Village Inn for good grades breakfast! I love breakfast from that place! Yum :)
Then, later that day, Mom and I went and got pedicures. Mom has gotten them a bunch of times, but this was my first one. And I think I can say that I'm not a super huge fan of them. The lady working on me made me bleed, so that wasn't super comfortable. But, the whole time this video was all I could think of!

This is the finished product:
Had to go with the bright yellow!

Then, Em and  Jess came over and we went to visit Grandpa Love's grave. The cemetery looked so pretty with all of the flowers there, but I forgot my camera so I couldn't take a picture of it :(
After the cemetery, we came home and had a BBQ! It was delicious! After dinner is when the fun really started! We had some wooden benches that were breaking, so we took a baseball bat to them. Now, we have a giant pile of firewood!

Overall, it was a pretty good weekend with some adventures! And my phone is now working again! Hopefully it stays functional! :)

7 Days of No-Negativity Challenge

A few weeks ago, Brooklyn sent out a request on twitter for bloggers that wanted to participate in an experiment. This girl is one of the sweetest girls I know, and in reality I haven't even met her in real life! (That is changing next week though! So excited!) So, of course I was in!

The experiment was to see if we could go 7 days without saying anything negative. Now, I know that I am not perfect, but I tend to think that I pretty much say only positive things most of the time. It is my thoughts that tend to be on the negative side, especially about myself or judging other people.

She sent us a cute little bracelet to put together and then wear everyday to remind us to be positive.

Brooklyn told us to keep a log of when we slip up and the situations that cause us to be negative. So, I not only kept track of negative things I said, but also negative things that I thought. I was very surprised what brought about the negativity in my life.

The main things that caused me to have negative thoughts and somethings say negative things were:

1. Self-image/Self-esteem/Self-regret. I didn't realize really before now how many times I can put myself down! And it is helping no one! That is really one thing that I definitely need to work on!

2. A certain person in my life. While I won't be super specific, I realized that I am not a very happy person when this certain individual is around and interacting with me. It makes me kind of sad because this person is my friend and I have had some great experiences with them, but I now know that something definitely has to change, either in my attitude or how we interact.

3. Body pains. I realized that I tend to complain a lot when I am in pain. This week I have been trying to really push myself to get myself into a regular exercising routine, which means that I have been pretty sore all week. And that has caused me to complain. I definitely didn't complain as much as I would have, but I still did.

Now, even though the experiment is over, I am still wearing the bracelet and will try to each day to remind me to stay positive and to only say and think positive things :)

Thanks Brooklyn for the great experience!

You ARE better than you think you are

These past couple of weeks I have struggled with a few things. One of them being self-esteem/self-image. While in my head I KNOW that I shouldn't base how I feel about myself on how many dates I get asked out on or how a certain boy treats me, but I do it anyways. Sometimes, with things like this, I can't help it.

Then, certain situations arise, (for example going to a bridal shower for a friend that is younger than you and everyone else there is younger than you and either has their mission call or is in a serious relationship, hence no mission call), and I can't help but think, "Yeah, I'm not going on a mission, and I'm not dating anyone. What am I doing?"

This summer I am not taking summer classes and I currently don't have a job, (waiting to hear back from 2 though, fingers crossed!), so a lot of days I am just sitting at home with not a whole lot to keep my mind busy. So, naturally, it wanders, and not usually to the best places either. I get these self-destructive thoughts and then I am just in a funk for the rest of the day.

At the beginning of the summer, I decided that I wanted to get into better shape. I will admit, part of it was to impress a boy. Actually, a lot of it was. Today, I realized that if I keep that/him as my motivation, I'm not going to do very well. Then, I found this on Pinterest:
Under the picture in the description it said, "give yourself some credit where it's due, be kind, and always be your own biggest motivator at the gym. never work out for someone else, a boy, your frenemies... work out because you want to be healthy, look good, and feel good. -EB"

Exactly what I needed right?

So, obviously, I went on a mad search for some more motivational and uplifting sayings. Here is my favorite:

No matter what is getting you, or me, down, You ARE better than you think you are! And to show people this, BE YOU! While it is important to continually try to be better and to improve in life, you, and me, shouldn't change who we are for someone else. We should try to be better and improve for OURSELVES. Not for some friend, or for some boy, or for some coworker, boss, etc.

So, just BE YOU and always remember that you ARE better than you think you are!

Now, I just need to listen to my own advice and get through this funk of mine. Tomorrow is a new day :)

Healthy Life

I have decided that I need to live a healthier life.
While my life isn't terribly unhealthy, which is a large part due to my mom and her health-consciousness, I could definitely be better.

I have been inspired by my cousin, Morgan. She is so motivated to "Be Healthy" and always seems to stay on track. She told me today that what got her the most motivated was not thinking "skinny" (which she already is anyways), but that she thought "healthy" instead.

So, today I start to be healthier. Today I challenge myself to get out of bed each morning to just MOVE in some way. Today, I want to be able to not feel guilty when I eat ice cream.

Today, I want to be a better me.

To start off today, I actually made my lunch instead of just sticking something from the freezer into the microwave.

Turkey, Ham, Cheese, and Lettuce Wrap on a Spinach and Herb Tortilla
Fruit and Light&Fit Yogurt
Crystal Light Rasberry Lemonade

This lunch with Delish! And very filling too!

So, blogger peeps, I don't cook very much. Not that I don't want to, I just don't have very many ideas and I'm all about quick and easy. If you have any quick and easy AND healthy recipes, please send them to me! I would be super grateful! My email is beccafoth@yahoo.com.

I invite anyone to join me on my quest to live a healthier life! We can send each other encouraging and motivating messages and all that jazz :) If you want to join me, email me as well!

I Blogged, WHAATT??

Remember that one time I blogged? Yeah, me neither.

It's been a while. Lots has happened. Some good. Some not so good. Some pretty fantastic.

So, here is an update on me since March :)

School has basically been my life. So not much to report there.

I got a new calling! I am the Ward Bulletin Editor! That means I make the paper program each week for Sacrament Meeting. So if anyone has any tips or things that have been in your Sacrament Meeting paper programs that you loved, please comment below and let me know! Or email me at beccafoth@yahoo.com.

I made it through the semester without Advanced Anatomy destroying my GPA! I ended up actually doing fairly well and getting an A- in the class! Only 1 person got an A so I am feeling pretty great about my A- :)

"Rocked the U" for Cancer Research! I danced for Lizzie Hammer! :)

I found out that I got into Nursing School at the U! I am so so excited! I start my program in the Fall and it is a 2 year program, so by the time my brother gets home from his mission, I will be a nurse! :)

Road Go-Karts at Miller Motor Sports Park and had a blast!

Hiked up Ensign Peak with the silly parents and crazy brother :)
Yes, my mom is making a duck face.

Went to "The Really Big Cooking Show" at Thanksgiving Point with my mom and now want to be domestic and make food and treats all the time :)

Was chosen as a new member of the University of Utah's Student Alumni Board! This group is so great and I'm so excited to be able to be a part of it next year!

Went Cosmic Bowling with the brother (and Muffin) for his birthday! Then stopped for Smile Fries from Sconecutter! We were 5 year old hooligans with a driver's license and our mom's credit card ;)

Had Easter Saturday up at the Cabin with the HamFam, and Easter Sunday at home with Bro!

Finished up the semester and school year with my awesome Spirit of Place LDSSA Committee at our traditional breakfast at Village Inn for the last meeting :) I love these kids and am going to miss those who won't be back next year!

Fell for a guy and was twitterpatted for a while. Then experienced heartache because of the situation. This guy is an amazing guy and reminded me what it felt like to love and be loved, to care and be cared for, and I am so grateful for that. I have no bad feelings towards him in anyway and I wish him the very best in life and in love. Thank you T for giving me a great month and helping me get through many days and nights of stress and worry with school and grades. It meant the world to me :)

Now, it is Summer time! I am excited for what is to come in my life and to embrace whatever comes my way :)
